Welcome to READ-64-S

READ stands for Reliable Emotional Action Decoding.

The READ test measures how accurately and how quickly people can recognize emotions in facial expressions. This ability supports clear and empathetic communication in many everyday situations, both in personal and professional contexts.

In this test, you will see 64 images showing different facial expressions.
All facial expressions are based on photorealistic computer-generated images that were created specifically for this assessment. This method allows for a very precise and consistent representation of facial movements and emotional expressions.

Each image is displayed for a very brief moment (300 milliseconds). After the image disappears, please select the emotion that you believe best matches the expression. The eight response options are:
fear, surprise, anger, disgust, contempt, sadness, happiness, and social smile. A social smile is a polite smile shown without actually feeling happiness.

Please respond promptly, as the test also measures how quickly facial expressions are perceived.
The entire assessment takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Please ensure that you are not interrupted during this time.

We wish you a calm and focused testing experience.

Kind regards,
The Eilert Academy Team
